Erika Popliceanu

Originally she is a sociologist, and she has a Phd degree in Urban Planning from the ’Ion Mincu’ University of Architecture and Urbanism from Bucharest. She discovered her passion for textiles in 2012, and has been testing their limits ever since. She has started to combine textile with metal, stone and wood first when attending designer courses offered by the ’Assamblage’ School of Contemporary Jewelry Design. This was the first time she created simple but forceful jewelry. She continued her career with creating home-deco objects made of wood and other natural fibers. These are unique objects with an extra emotional touch given by the texture, simplicity and naturalness of their materials. Today she continues her work in her textile design studio called coolwoolstudio.

The objects belonging to the collection ROOTS, specially designed for the Castle in Transylvania Shop, are made of suede leather, metal, cotton and silk thread and they represent our relation to our roots. They are the symbols of congruent or contradictory situations, characters, contexts and stories which define our present existence.
