ESZTÁNY ISTVÁN

He studied textile design at `Moholy-Nagy` Art University from Budapest, but he was certain that he would move back home to Miercurea Ciuc after his graduation. He became well-known for his unique, spectacular but simple designer bags. These bell-shaped bags are made of colorful leather stripes. Their shape has been inspired by the traditional pleated skirts common in the region of Miercurea Ciuc. The most popular Esztány-bags are his shoulder bags for women, but he creates all sorts of bags –  from backpacks to suitcases, including ones based on individual designs. An unusual request means a new act of creation - each such request is a challenge and a source of inspiration to him.

The objects he designed for the Castle in Transylvania Shop are made of local materials. They are designed to ‘surround’ the shape of castles, to open their rough lines and borders in order to transfer the great values that have been entrusted to us by these monuments into our everyday lives.
